At Woburn House Conference Centre, we are committed to operating as sustainably as possible.
Across the Venue
We have implemented a range of practical measures to improve energy efficiency, reduce waste, and lower our carbon footprint:
- A new VRV heating and cooling system has been installed to significantly reduce gas consumption. The system is switched off during weekends and public holidays and operates in either heating or cooling mode (not both) to optimise efficiency.
- Each WC is fitted with an Ariston 10-litre, 2KW point-of-use water heater. These are set on timers to operate only during business hours (Monday–Friday), reducing unnecessary energy use.
- Motion-sensitive lighting has been installed in all common areas.
- LED bulbs are used throughout the venue.
- In August 2024, we introduced Waterblade technology, reducing water usage by approximately 50% and electricity consumption by 5–10%.
- The venue is now 95% single-use plastic free across light equipment and packaging.
- All light equipment is reusable.
- Aside from paper sugar sachets and cling film, no other disposable materials are used.
- We operate on 100% renewable electricity
- Carbon emissions from gas are offset
Woburn House Conference Centre also supports a cause-related marketing strategy by organising, alongside Camden Giving, a quiz night where all funds are donated to the charity. Our volunteering days can also be used in support of Camden Giving.
Our Catering team
Our contracted in-house caterers, Compass Group, operate under a robust sustainability framework and actively monitor and reduce food waste.
- Bakery products are sourced from Luminary Bakery, a local social enterprise that reduces food miles while supporting women affected by domestic abuse and sexual exploitation through skills development and employment programmes.
- Coffee is supplied by Redemption Roasters, a local social enterprise providing training and employment opportunities for prison leavers. Sustainability is central to their sourcing policy.
Compass aims to reach climate net zero by 2040 and has developed a comprehensive Climate Transition Framework focused on:
- Supply Chain
- Operations
- Clients and Consumers
Compass UK & Ireland manages its environmental impact through an Environmental Management System certified to:
- ISO 9001:2015 – Quality Management
- ISO 14001:2015 – Environmental Management

Compass continues to implement further measures to accelerate progress towards its 2040 net zero target.
